Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax have been dealt a cruel blow on the injury front during the international break. Brazilian youngster Kerlon has picked up an injury and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old attacker twisted his left knee during a training session earlier this week and needs surgery in order to fully recover. Kerlon is on his way to Italy at the moment where he will undergo an operation on Saturday.
A report on the official Ajax website reads that the gifted youngster will be unavailable for at least six months.
Kerlon has been far from lucky in his short career so far. The former Cruzeiro starlet has been plagued by knee trouble since he left Brazil for an adventure in Italy.
The attacker made only four league appearances for Chievo Verona last term, but was still snapped up by Inter in the summer transfer window.
The Italian titleholders farmed him out on loan to Ajax in order to let him gain first team experience, but Kerlon has yet to make his official debut for the Amsterdam side.
