Weekly Roundup

Tetsu Sugiyama
Consadole Sapporo
Sugiyama emerged among other goalkeepers after his fine performance against Nagoya Grampus, allowing just one goal on the way to Consadole's first win in 10 matches.

Keisuke Tsuboi
Urawa Reds

Yuji Nakazawa
Yokohama F. Marinos

Kyotaro Yamakoshi
Kawasaki Frontale

Next to Tsuboi and Nakazawa, two veterans with established records, comes newcomer Yamakoshi. The JFA Type-2 player is still a university student, but showed magnificent skills in his overlapping and passing in contributing to Frontale's 4-1 win over Ardija.

Yuta Mikado
Albirex Niigata

Kengo Nakamura
Kawasaki Frontale

Leandro Domingues
Kashiwa Reysol
Albirex Niigata

Yosuke Kashiwagi
Urawa Reds

This week brings a five-midfielder formation, with Mikado controlling the centre of the park for Albirex while Nakamura dazzled with a goal at the end of the first half for Frontale. On the wings are the ever-productive Leandro from Reysol as well as Michael, who frustrated FC Tokyo all the way to an Albirex victory and escape from the drop zone. At shadow striker is Kashiwaki, who scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Reds and drew them ever closer to leaders Sanfrecce.

Yuya Osako
Kashima Antlers

Masato Kudo
Kashiwa Reysol
At forward, Osako surely benefited from good luck but his superb positioning also allowed him to scored two goals. The performance did not overshadow that of fellow selection Kudo, who scored his career-first hat-trick in Reysol's 4-1 win over Cerezo. Both strikers put on a performance worthy of London, and after seeing Japan squeak by Spain and Morocco it's easy to wonder why neither wore Samurai Blue this weekend.
