Jose Peseiro looks set to be relieved of his duties as Saudi Arabia coach if rumours circulating the camp are to be believed. Goal.com Arabic are reporting the news, which comes in the aftermath of a shock 2-1 defeat to minnows Syria in their opening game of the 2011 Asian Cup.
Reports are emanating from the Qatari capital Doha that the president of the Saudi FA, Prince Sultan bin Fahd, intends to sack Peseiro as a consequence.
Bin Fahd has reportedly made his intentions clear as he fears a first-round elimination in a group also containing tournament favourites Japan and Jordan. The Saudis had been expected to compete for the trophy alongside the likes of the Blue Samurai, Australia and South Korea.
Nothing official has yet come from the team although it appears that former Panathinaikos coach Peseiro's days are numbered. Nasser Al Johar is the most likely name in the frame to replace the Portuguese, who took over in February 2009.
