Blackburn-Millwall Betting Preview: Expect another tight FA Cup tie at Ewood Park

After nothing could separate them in the original tie last weekend, Al Hain-Cole expects Rovers and The Lions to play out another closely fought encounter this evening
Just three days after playing out a combative 0-0 draw in London, Blackburn and Millwall meet once again in an FA Cup replay, with a semi-final against Wigan up for grabs.

Kenny Jackett will feel aggrieved that his side failed to wrap up the victory after dominating in their own back yard, and a number of missed chances means that they now face a difficult mid-week trip to Ewood Park.

After emerging unscathed from a battering at The Den, the hosts are now favourites at 6/5 (2.20) with BetVictor to book themselves a place at Wembley in the next round.

Having won just two of their last nine away games, The Lions are unfancied at 13/5 (3.60) to cause an upset by coming out on top this evening.

Alternatively, you can get odds of 12/5 (3.40) on the two sides playing out another stalemate in this match, leaving us with the prospect of extra-time and penalties.

To the informed observer, Sunday’s goal-less draw will have come as no great surprise considering the participants.

Only four Championship teams have mustered fewer that the 44 goals scored by each of these sides, while their resolute defences have conceded just a solitary goal in eight combined FA Cup appearances’ so far.

A bet on under 2.5 goals to be scored would have paid out in six of the last eight for Michael Appleton’s men, and looks too good to miss at  3/4 (1.75) in what promises to be another tight encounter.

Nobody will have been more disappointed with their side’s failure to emerge victorious at the weekend than Rob Hulse, who missed a gilt-edged opportunity in the last few minutes that would have seen his name in lights in south east London.

However, the veteran target man is a real handful for defenders, and with him desperate to make up for his waywardness, odds of 3/1 (4.00) could prove a smart investment on him redeeming himself with a goal tonight.
