Macedonia dismiss Mirsad Jonuz as coach

The Red Lions have fired their manager after a string of poor results in the Euro 2012 qualifiers

Mirsad Jonuz has been sacked as Macedonia’s national team coach, the country's football federation has announced.

A statement on the FFM's official website confirmed the dismissal, which was a direct result of the team's poor performance thus far in their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

"Following extensive discussions regarding results achieved in qualifying for the 2012 European Championship, an unanimous decision has been reached to remove Mirsad Jonuz from his position as the coach of the national team," read the statement.

The Red Lions sit in fifth position in Group B, having just one win and a draw in the six matches played. Macedonia next face Russia and then Andorra in Euro 2012 qualifiers.

The FFM has yet to name a replacement for Jonuz, who was given the post in 2009.
