Italy's Andrea Ranocchia Ruled Out Of Euro 2012 Qualifier Against Slovenia Due To Knee Injury

Ranocchia's knee injury means he misses Italy's international week of action...
Italy defender Andrea Ranocchia has been forced to abandon training with the Azzurri as problems with his right knee mean he will miss the Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovenia, and subsequent friendly against Ukraine.

Sky Sport Italia
reports the Inter stopper has struggled to shake off a knee problem and was unable to take part in training, and he later left Coverciano to head back to Milan to continue his recovery.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad trained under Cesare Prandelli's guidance, warming up first then plenty of running for the players before the coach put two formations against each other in 4-3-1-2 line-ups.

Whispers around Coverciano suggest Prandelli has already decided his starting XI for the Slovenia match. Thiago Motta, Alberto Aquilani and Riccardo Montolivo may start in the middle.

Of course, Daniele De Rossi is absent for this game after being excluded following his UEFA ban for an elbow against Shakhtar Donetsk's Darijo Srna in the Champions League.

Italy's possible formation:

Buffon; Maggio, Bonucci, Chiellini, Balzaretti; Thiago Motta, Montolivo, Aquilani; Mauri; Pazzini, Cassano.
