Ukraine's Andriy Pyatov Confident Euro 2012 Will Be A Stunning Success

Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov believes that Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine have the necessary resources to hold a successful tournament.

Tickets for the competition went on sale today and the 26-year-old is eager to show off his country to the swarm of visitors that will descend upon the eastern European nation.

"I think hosting the competition will have far-reaching benefits as Ukraine is currently not very well known internationally," he told uefa.com.

"UEFA criteria demands a lot of changes to infrastructure, which is good. We have started to build hotels and roads, and that will help Ukraine take a well-deserved place alongside the world's other major countries.

"It would be great if we could raise the image of the country. Before people say Ukraine should win the championship, I think we need to start showing the standard of play that's expected of us. We need to get results. Our primary goal is to get out of the group; after that we shall see."

Pyatov is the reigning Ukrainian Premier League player of the year.
