Vote for your World Player of the Week

Have your say on who you think should win's weekly honour
As part of a new rebrand and design, we are asking our readers to help us select each World Player of the Week. World Player of the Week started in 2009 and has since run every week, proving to be hugely popular with readers. Each Monday at midday, our worldwide team of editors put forward a candidate, as chosen by International, who deserves recognition for achieving something special over the course of the previous seven days.

The winner isn't necessarily the best player in the world - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance (such as Lionel Messi scoring a record five Champions League goals in one game) or for something praiseworthy off the pitch (Eric Abidal miraculously returning after a liver tumour operation) - either way, the person in question deserves special attention.

In addition to the victor, we highlight a number of honourable mentions, players who also excelled but just didn't do enough to win the top prize.

Simply leave a comment on this promotional article between 10.00 every Sunday and 11.00CET every Monday with the name of your winner, and the reasons for your nomination. Alternatively you can post a message via social networking on either of International's Facebook or Twitter pages.

The best comments, messages or tweets will be included when our winner is announced on International.

Last week's winner was Barcelona star Lionel Messi,
who became the first player in Champions League history to score five goals in one game.
