Honduras played out a 2-2 draw with Belarus this evening as Reinaldo Rueda's side continued their preparation for this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
Julio Cesar de Leon had given Honduras a 26th minute lead before Anton Putsilo grabbed a brace inside three second-half minutes to put the Belarusians ahead.
Honduras deservedly drew level in the 71st minute when substitute Welcome played a cross field ball to Edgar Alvarez before darting into the box to leap onto the return and head unchallenged past Yuri Zhevnov.
The Belarus ‘keeper had come to claim the ball but found himself horribly caught beneath the ball’s flight, providing Welcome the invitation of an empty net.
While Rueda would have noted his team will have to improve their defensive positioning at set-pieces, and work on their shape when losing possession, the Colombian would have seen enough enterprise from his front-men to believe they are capable of grabbing a goal or two this summer.
Honduras have been drawn in Group H with Chile, Switzerland and Spain.
