World Cup 2010: Spain Deserve To Be In The Final – Carles Puyol

Spain defender Carles Puyol believes that the Furia Roja are in the final of the World Cup because they deserve to be and is confident ahead of Sunday's match against the Netherlands.

The European champions will take on the Oranje at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. This is the first time that Spain are in the final of football's most prestigious competition.

Carles Puyol, who scored the winner against Germany in the semi-finals on Wednesday night, is proud of his side's achievement so far and claims that no one can say that they do not deserve to be in the final.

"We are where we deserve to be," Puyol said, according to Spanish sports daily Marca. "The whole team is looking forward to the match and wants to do something big.

"The game against the Netherlands will be very complicated. We are two teams with great talent and will work hard to win the title.

"A final is always 50/50. At first we were also the favourites and when we lost against Switzerland, it was a disaster."

When asked whether the game against the Netherlands on Sunday will be his last, Puyol remarked, "What lies ahead is very nice, after that there will be time to assess things. The decision has not been taken yet."
