World Cup 2010: Italy Had No World Class Players - Argentina Coach Diego Maradona

Argentina coach Diego Maradona has questioned coach Marcello Lippi's choices at the 2010 World Cup, asking why he failed to include players that would have sparked Italy's tournament into life.

La Nazionale were dead and buried by Slovakia on Thursday as their World Cup hopes were killed off.

Players appeared dormant upon their return this morning as Marcello Lippi ignored questions from the press.

But he may reply to Maradona's probe.

"Italy out of the World Cup? I did not expect it so soon. They missed players like Francesco Totti and Alessandro Del Piero," Maradona told the press.

"I think things would have been different if they had world class players.

"I am sorry to see them go out like this because a team like Italy cannot go out at the first stage.

"They were good in defence and midfield, but they lacked something up front.

"However I don't want to criticise Lippi."
