Greece are on the verge of announcing Fernando Santos as their new coach, according to reports in Portugal.
The Ethniki are on the lookout for a new coach after parting company with Otto Rehhagel following the team's early elimination at the World Cup in South Africa.
Santos, 55, is highly regarded in Greece after successfully coaching AEK Athens, Panathinaikos and PAOK in the last decade.
Last season, he guided PAOK to a runners-up finish in the league's play-offs, which earned them a place in the Champions League's third qualifying round.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Santos, who has coached Porto, Sporting and Benfica in the past, will be announced as the new Greece coach in the next hours.
He will have the task of guiding Greece to Euro 2012, with the Ethniki having been placed in the same group as Croatia, Israel, Latvia, Georgia and Malta in the qualifying phase for the competition in Ukraine and Poland.
