World Cup 2010: Gianluigi Buffon Admits Italy Deserve To Go Home Early

Buffon says Italy deserve to go home empty handed following embarrassing exit...
Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has said elimination from the World Cup is just what his side deserved following a disastrous exit at the hands of Slovakia.

La Nazionale lost 3-2 at Ellis Park and tumbled out of the competition without a win and bottom of Group F - something that has not happened since 1974.

And, it's the first time they have left the World Cup without a win.

Buffon believes the exit comes as no surprise following the three games.

"It's right that we are going home. Slovakia and New Zealand are teams to be respected, nothing more," Buffon told Rai Sport.

"And, if we cannot beat these teams then it's only right to go home."
