World Cup 2010: Hat-Trick Hero Gonzalo Higuain Praises Argentina's Team Effort

'Pipita' puts group before personal glory…
Following his World Cup hat-trick against South Korea today, Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain has praised the effort of his team-mates, insisting the side's collective performance was bigger than his own.

“You have to think about the team before thinking about being a goalscorer,” the Real Madrid forward told the club's official website.

“We converted the chances we failed to capitalise on in our previous match [against Nigeria].”

“The entire team played a great role,” he added. “We are happy with our performance. We wanted to kill the game off and we did so in the second half.”

The 4-1 victory seals Argentina’s berth into the second round but Pipita assured los Albicelestes fans that the team wouldn’t take their foot off the pedal.

“We can't afford to relax,” he said. “This is a World Cup and anything can happen. We are doing a good job, but we have to stay focused.”
