World Cup 2010: Riccardo Montolivo Disappointed With Italy's Slow Start

Italy midfielder Riccardo Montolivo has admitted he was disappointed with the Azzurri's 1-1 draw in their World Cup opener against Paraguay.

"We were not very happy with the result against Paraguay because the team can do better," Montolivo told FIFA.com.

“The first match is important but we were too stressed about the start of the World Cup,” he revealed.

The Fiorentina man went on to say he felt his side were a little unfortunate in the match and admitted that their number one concern was not to lose after going behind to Antolin Alcaraz’s 39th minute header.

“Coach [Marcello] Lippi told us we have to try shots on goal but we were not too lucky in this match,” he said.

“We conceded a goal against Paraguay but once it was 1-0 to them we came back a bit to defend and make sure we didn't go 2-0 down. We didn't want to lose the first game.”
