World Cup 2010: Paraguay Goal Hero Antolin Alcaraz Satisfied With Precious Point

The Wigan defender lamented the lapse in concentration which allowed Daniele De Rossi to equalise but still feels a draw is a good result...
Paraguay goal hero Antolin Alcaraz put on a brave face after the Guaranies drew 1-1 against World Champions Italy.

The defender told press after the final whistle that it was a loss of concentration that cost them three points, but that he was happy with the draw and his contribution.

"Playing in a World Cup is something that cannot be described. Just playing in it is something special and scoring a goal makes it doubly so," stated Alcaraz, who plays for Wigan Athletic in England.

"We couldn't keep our concentration in the vital moment, but a point is not a bad way to start our World Cup."

Alcaraz had opened the scoring for Paraguay on 38 minutes with a towering header from a free kick. Guarani hearts were broken however in the second half when 'keeper Justo Villar misjudged a corner and was left stranded as Daniele De Rossi bundled home, denying the South Americans a famous victory.
