As debuts go, they don't get more complicated than this. With only three friendly matches under his belt, Lucas Barrios will lead the Paraguay attack against reigning world champions Italy in Cape Town this evening.
But the Borussia Dortmund star says he is ready for the challenge, and showed few signs of nerves when talking to Ole on Sunday.
"We have to take advantage of today's game and our chances - almost nobody in this World Cup is winning by more than one or two goals," the forward insisted, seemingly undaunted in taking on the defensive might of Buffon, Cannavaro and company.
Barrios also refused to speculate on his side's chances of progressing in a tournament in which they have never travelled beyond the last 16.
"The goal is always to make history. What has to happen will happen. But the most complicated step is getting out of the groups. After that it is all to play for.
"Overall though I am delighted; for my mother, who is Paraguayan; for myself, for being at this World Cup. I am going to defend this shirt to the death."
