World Cup 2010: Italy's Gennaro Gattuso Announces He Will Retire From International Football After South Africa

"I will not play for Italy after the World Cup," he told the press.
Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed he will no longer play for the national team after the World Cup as he calls time on his international career.

Gattuso, who will appear in his third World Cup in South Africa, made it clear he would be hanging up his international boots.

"After World Cup 2010 in South Africa I will no longer play for la Nazionale," he told reporters in Centurion.

"I am 33 years old and for the role I cover, I think it's right to give more space to others who have more energy.

"But, my dream one day would be to coach Italy in a World Cup."

The Azzurri clash with Paraguay on Monday in their Group F opener.
