FIFA Deny Issuing A List Of English Swear Words To Referees

FIFA have denied reports that they have issued a list of English profanities to match officials ahead of the World Cup finals.

Particularly in the spotlight has been the behaviour of England striker Wayne Rooney, whose yellow card for dissent in a practice match this week brought the issue of foul language towards referees sharply into focus.

The Brazilian match officials lined up to take control of England's opening game against the USA on Saturday had claimed that they had been issued with a list of English swear words to help their preparation, but FIFA have denied that this is the case.

"No such list has been distributed to the referees," a FIFA statement reads.
