World Cup hopefuls Mexico have received some good news from the treatment table in the build-up to their opening match against hosts South Africa this Friday afternoon.
Experienced defender Rafael Marquez has resumed regular training after having recovered from a leg injury. Marquez sustained the injury during Mexico's international friendly against Italy last week and was substituted due to the knock.
The Barcelona defender is expected to be part of Mexico's starting XI for Friday's game, but national team coach Javier Aguirre has yet to announce his squad.
Meanwhile, attacker Guillermo Franco has also returned to full training. The former Villarreal striker was being plagued by a muscle injury, but will be match fit in time for the match against South Africa.
Mexico also meet France and Uruguay in the group phase of this summer's tournament.
