New Zealand continued their World Cup warm-up against Slovenia tonight, but there was no repeat of the heroics that saw them beat Serbia last week as a Milivoje Novakovic brace set Slovenia on their way to comfortable 3-1 victory.
Novakovic got his side off to a the perfect start when he opened the scoring with a sublime free-kick after just six minutes, sending the ball flying into the top corner of New Zealand 'keeper Mark Paston's net. Rory Fallon got the Kiwis back on level terms with a neat finish 15 minutes later before Novakovic regained the lead for his side on the half-hour mark with his second set piece of the opening 30 minutes; this time his shot flew into the bottom corner.
Andraz Krim sealed the victory right on the stroke of half-time, firing a right-footed shot into the corner of Paston’s net.
