Germany's national team coach Joachim Loew has made the decision to name Bayern Munich keeper Hans-Joerg Butt as the Nationalelf's third choice shot stopper in South Africa, according to a report in Bild.
The Germans were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday when first choice glovesman Rene Adler informed Loew that he won't be able to play at this summer's World Cup due to a rib injury.
The absence of Adler left Loew with a problem about who should be the third goalkeeper in Germany's World Cup squad. Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller and Stuttgart's Jens Lehmann were also believed to be in the running for the vacant position, but Loew has now decided to take Butt to South Africa.
Schalke's Manuel Neuer and Werder Bremen custodian Tim Wiese will have to battle it out for the position between the sticks in Germany's opener against Australia at this summer's tournament.
