Algerian national team coach Rabah Saadane has revealed a list of 24 players that will participate in a training camp to prepare the Greens for their August 12 friendly with Uruguay at the 5th of July Stadium.
The group is almost identical to the one which took part in
the North African country’s last World Cup qualifier against Zambia
in Chililabombwe on June 7, with the exception of Mourad Meghni, who
has replaced former MC Alger goalkeeper Mohamed Benhamou.
“It’s practically the same roster that played the first
phase of qualifiers, its hard to change. The only player that wasn’t called up
is the goalkeeper Benhamou, who we are going to try to help find a club,”
explained the trainer in a press conference yesterday.
Meanwhile, both Benfica’s Hassan Yebda and Racing Santander’s
Mehdi Lacen have not received an invitation. Both player have declared that
they would like to take advantage of FIFA’s new ruling allowing them to change
their national allegiances despite being older than 21 years of age.
