Aston Villa's Jack Grealish sets unwanted Premier League record

The 20-year-old midfielder suffered defeat in all 16 of his Premier League appearances - beating the record set by Sunderland's Sean Thornton in 2003

In an awful season for Aston Villa, Jack Grealish has set one of the most unwanted records in Premier League history.

Villa finished rock bottom in the Premier League and a whopping 22 points adrift of safety, winning just three games all season.

For Grealish, all of his 16 appearances in the Premier League this term have ended in defeat.

The Villa midfielder has comfortably beaten the previous record set by Sean Thornton, who lost all 11 of his games for Sunderland in the 2002-03 campaign.

In the same season, Sunderland’s Talal El Karkouri also tasted defeat in each of his eight Premier League appearances.

But despite his woes for Villa, Gealish has made England’s Under-21 squad for the upcoming Toulon Tournament, which begins on Thursday against Portugal.
