Is Benteke destined to be a £32m Liverpool flop?

The Belgium international failed to make an impact as the Reds were beaten by West Ham on Saturday and appears a poor fit for Jurgen Klopp's system, but can he turn it around?

A £32 million transfer fee does not buy you a great deal of time to impress and, as the January window opens, Christian Benteke appears to be edging closer to becoming one of last summer's misses rather than a hit.

One of the highest-profile signings of a close-season that saw Brendan Rodgers spend big at Anfield only to ultimately lose his job, Benteke has struggled to make an impact under new boss Jurgen Klopp and failed to influence proceedings as Liverpool were beaten 2-0 by West Ham on Saturday.

Having performed miracles by scoring at just shy of a goal every other game for an unimpressive Aston Villa side over the previous three seasons, Benteke has scored seven from 19 games so far in his injury troubled Reds career.

Question marks are appearing as to whether or not he can be prolific in front of goal and adapt to Klopp's style of play.
