Milan got their year off to a winning start this afternoon with a 2-1 friendly victory over Al Ahli in the Emirates Challenge Cup.
The Rossoneri will be delighted with the victory but are clearly have some pounds to work off following the Christmas break and notable Antonio Cassano who looked to carrying a few extra pounds following his recent exile at Sampdoria.
Clarence Seedorf put the Italians ahead in shortly before halftime and the visitors doubled their lead twenty minutes from time when the youngster Giacomo Beretta fired home Milan’s second.
Al Ahli pulled one back late on in spectacular style when Hassan fired in from 25 yards but it proved no more than a consolation goal as Massimiliano Allegri side held on for the victory.
Milan looked in decent form ahead of Thursday’s round 18 Serie A encounter against Cagliari but there could be some concern over Robinho who took a blow to the knee following a collision with one of the pitchside cameras.
