Blanc plays down Di Maria & Verratti injuries

Angel Di Maria and Marco Verratti were withdrawn during Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 Ligue 1 win against Reims due to injury, Laurent Blanc has confirmed, but the coach has played any fears over any potential absence.

Shortly before the break, the Argentine was withdrawn by head coach Laurent Blanc, with Lucas Moura replacing him on the field. At the interval, meanwhile, the Italy international was taken off with Blaise Matuidi taking his spot.

“Di Maria has a small muscular issue and Marco an inflammation which is not very serious either,” the PSG boss told Canal+.

“These are small problems which we will need to be careful with, but they are nothing serious.
“It has used up a lot of energy, even for you [television reporter] I think! There is always a decompression three or four days afterwards.”

In the immediate aftermath, there were concerns the players might miss the forthcoming Champions League match against Chelsea, but Blanc appeared confident both will be fit.

Di Maria has made 33 appearances since signing for PSG from Manchester United in the summer and has contributed heavily to their fine start to the Ligue 1 season. From 21 games, the 28 year old has scored nine goals and has provided another 10 assists.

Verratti, meanwhile, has established himself as a vital pivot in the PSG side, having made 25 appearances this term.

Neither was to make a telling contribution at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic grabbed the spotlight with two goals and two assists.
