Who is AC Milan’s Player of the Season?

Goal.com name our top three stand-out performers for the Rossoneri in 2010-11 and declare our winner. Have your say below
AC Milan's seven-year search for the Serie A title ended this past weekend, as they drew 0-0 with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, nabbing the point they needed to claim the 2010-11 Scudetto and halt rivals Inter's dominance over the past half-decade.

At long last there was domestic success for Silvio Berlusconi's men after a lengthy dry run as they won the league in their first attempt under new boss Massimiliano Allegri. They still have the prospect of a domestic double on the cards too as winning the Coppa Italia is still a possibility. However, it was not such smooth sailing in the Champions League, as they suffered a surprise exit at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in the Round of 16.

Nonetheless, with a fine defensive record and a vibrant attack bolstered by faces both old and new at San Siro, Milan are hoping for further success down the road.

Below are Goal.com's three nominees for Milan’s player of the season in alphabetical order. We then cast our vote at the bottom before leaving it up to you, the readers, to have your say.

Goalkeeping was thought to be a huge question mark for the San Siro side at the start of the season, despite the acquisition of Marco Amelia, but Abbiati's presence between the sticks has produced outstanding saves and results in 2010-11.

The veteran has recorded an impressive 21 clean sheets in all competitions, over half of the matches he has played in, and made plenty of big stops including in the match that secured the title - a scoreless draw at Roma. Arguably the best goalkeeper in Italy this season and just as in the club's Scudetto win of 1999, Abbiati was a key component in the title win this campaign.

Say what you will about Ibrahimovic's temperament and attitude, the Swede proved instrumental in AC Milan winning the league crown, picking up his eighth successive league title with five different clubs.

In the first-half of the season in particular, the Rossoneri were described as 'Ibra dependent' as his goals proved decisive in gathering crucial points. With 20 strikes and 11 assists in all competitions, Ibra was the fulcrum of the attack despite suffering from a run of poor form and a couple of suspensions in the latter part of the campaign.

3. THIAGO SILVA | Defender

Age: 26
Appearances: 39
Goals/Assists: 1/1

Having already shown signs of becoming a world class centre-back last season, the Brazilian has indeed confirmed his status as one of football's best defenders with his displays this term. His performance level has barely dropped since week 1 when he turned in a great display at the back and added a goal in the rout against Lecce.

Alongside classy veteran Alesssandro Nesta at the back, the former Fluminense player has shown maturity well beyond his years with assured performances and the correct mentality to become the rock on which Milan's title-winning defence is built. Discipline is not a problem for him either, picking up just one booking all season.

In five words:

Astute reader of the game

Season highlight:

Two incredible performances in the Milan derbies this season, dominating star men like Samuel Eto'o in the pivotal matches against their main title rivals Inter.
