Ronaldo to score a hat-trick, Xavi to complete 100 passes – now have your say on what will happen in El Clasico

Goal.com's selection of editors gaze into the crystal ball and predict what might happen during the biggest game of the weekend - Real Madrid v Barcelona...
From magic to mayhem, histrionics to history, anything can happen in El Clasico when Real Madrid and Barcelona collide.

It takes a brave man to predict exactly what will happen when these two titans face off, but Goal.com's editors have agreed to put their necks on the line as they attempt to guess the correct final score and forecast who will become the heroes of the night.

Just to make things more interesting, the nine men below will also make a 'novelty prediction', a Nostradamus-like prediction of a key event or incident that will - or won't - take place during the 90 minutes.

Ducks will be broken everywhere. Cristiano vs Barca, Leo vs Mou, Higuain since returning from injury and Villa's current goalless run. Mourinho will save his tactical tricks for the cups and this will be the most open of the four Clasicos. Madrid will want it more but in their desperation will leave gaps for Barca to expertly exploit and the spoils will be shared, La Liga will be over.
Novelty Prediction:

Sergio Ramos will do his best Conan the Barbarian impression while committing a tackling equivalent of axe-murder on any given Barcelona player within the first 15 minutes. He may or may not get booked for the privilege.

Real Madrid will avenge the defeat in the last Clasico in a match in which Guardiola's squad may save some of its magic for the next and more decisive Clasicos. Ronaldo will finally have the opportunity to score against the Cules, as he may take advantage of the Catalans' defensive problems to achieve a victory that will give Real Madrid a room for hope in La Liga.

Novelty
Prediction:

Messi will mimic the famous Raul gesture, putting his finger to his mouth in an effort to silence Bernabeu.

Mourinho and Madrid will be all the wiser now after shipping in five goals in November's Clasico when they took a high defensive line. With Higuain as an attacking option, Mou will be able to play on the break and therefore adopt a more ultra-defensive approach. Speed demon Di Maria will break the deadlock, Pique will reply for Barca, and Benzema will come off the bench to score the winner.

Novelty
Prediction:

Messi will make two attempts to chip Casillas from three yards out and Ronaldo will attempt three shots from 40 yards out.

A difficult one to predict. Neither side will want to lose this one, but neither will want to overexert themselves either. Barca will play as they always do, but expect Pep to rest some players for the Copa del Rey final. Mourinho knows the league is lost and won’t want to give too much away tactically before Wednesday’s final, so expect two different systems in the two games and some rotation from the Portuguese. Messi to break his Mourinho duck in an entertaining 1-1 draw – a tasty aperitivo with the main course and dessert still to follow.

Novelty
Prediction:

Mourinho to whisper sweet nothings in Messi’s ear after the game – or get inside his head before the Copa del Rey final and Champions League games.

Out of the four Clasicos, the most unpredictable is the one to be played this Saturday. Both teams will reserve players for the Copa del Rey final; a draw will make both squad happy ultimately, as I think that all of them will be focused on avoiding injuries, cards and will try to save their strength for the key match next Wednesday.

Novelty
Prediction:

Florentino Perez to step onto the pitch after the match, celebrating a victory for Los Blancos, just as Ramon Calderon did in La Romareda.

The match will be hotly disputed at times but will feature moments in which both teams show that the important Clasicos are still to come. Real Madrid need to win against their rivals but they will be thinking about the Copa del Rey final. Barcelona will do the same. To play El Clasico fearing that the gap at the top can be trimmed to just five points can turn into a motivation lack for the Cules, whose intensity might decrease this Saturday.

Novelty
Prediction:

Messi will score two goals and will become a nightmare for Real Madrid.

Neither side will want to lose the first of their four duels in the space of 18 days, and with the destination of the league title virtually decided, a draw will leave both sides content before the Copa del Rey final in midweek.

Novelty
Prediction:

Di Maria to drive into the penalty before 'making the most' of a tackle from Adriano.

Novelty Prediction:

Ronaldo to throw his arms in the air and pout like a footballer’s wife within 60 seconds.

Mesut Oezil to play like a world-beater for 60 minutes and then suddenly get knackered and walk around for the last half-hour.
