Dmytro Chygrynskiy optimistic Shakhtar Donetsk can beat Barcelona

The defender is out of the Champions League second leg with an injury to his foot, but believes the Miners can beat the Blaugrana
Shakhtar Donetsk defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy says he hopes his team-mates can defeat Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.

The Spanish giants take a 5-1 lead from the first leg, and will be looking to consolidate their spot in the semi-finals.

"I'm sorry that I cannot help my team during the return match," Chygrynskiy was reported as saying to AS, as he will miss with a foot injury. "I hope they can do well.

"I hope they can beat Barcelona at the Donbass Arena."

Chygrynskiy spoke about his time at the Catalan club, believing had he played better, he would not have left.

"If I played better, I would not have been traded back to Shakhtar," he added. "It was my fault I made mistakes, and so I was transferred."

The 24-year-old has tipped the Blaugrana to win the prestigious European tournament ahead of rivals Real Madrid.

"Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world," continued Chygrynskiy. "I see them as being favourites to win it.

"I see Real Madrid as being not as strong as Barcelona, but I think Manchester United will also be a tough opponent."
