Eric Abidal Relieved After Barcelona's Victory Over Arsenal In Champions League

Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has expressed his relief at their 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the second leg of their Last-16 encounter in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Two goals from Lionel Messi, one a penalty, and a strike from Xavi saw the Spanish champions progress to the quarter-finals of the competition 4-3 on aggregate but not before they suffered a scare.

A Sergio Busquets own goal in the 53rd minute saw the Gunners draw level but the game changed after Robin van Persie was sent off.

Abidal, who played in central defence instead at left-back on tuesday evening, expressed his relief after the win and told Uefa.com, "It was a tricky game, especially after the defeat in England.

"I thought we played well, especially in the first half. When they scored the equaliser tonight it was tough to start all over again but we managed to do it, and for that we're very happy.

"Looking ahead to the quarter-finals, I hope to face Lyon; let's see if they can manage to beat Real Madrid next week."
