Spanish defender Andreu Fontas has expressed his delight at making his UEFA Champions League debut from the start for Barcelona against Rubin Kazan. The Blaugrana defeated Rubin 2-0 with Fontas getting himself on the scoresheet early in the second half to break the deadlock.
"It is impossible to imagine a better debut. The game itself was challenging because the opponents still had the chance to progress to the next stage, and they put the effort in to achieve this," Fontas told Marca.
"I went out on to the field with great expectations. However, I was nervous before the game but it was quickly forgotten when the game started."
The 21-year-old previously featured for Barcelona in their 8-0 thumping of Almeria last month.
