Pep Guardiola: The Barcelona Team Selected Against Panathinaikos Will Not Be Down To The Result In Kazan

Barcelona take on Panathinaikos tonight in the UEFA Champions League and coach Pep Guardiola has denied the result between Rubin Kazan and Copenhagen will affect his team selection for the Catalan giants game with the Greeks.

Rubin will start earlier due to the time difference in Russia, and the match between the Tatars and the Danes will have been concluded by the time Barcelona take to the field.

Barcelona will trail Copenhagen if the Danish club can come away from a cold Kazan with three points, while Guardiola will be hoping he might be able to rest a few players before El Clasico on Monday.

"The composition of my team will not be down to the result between Rubin and Copenhagen. I will announce the team much earlier. In the Champions League we should always be out to win," Guardiola told Marca.

"I will play the best team I can because I want to come back from Greece with a ticket for the next stage. It will be nice to go into the next stage top of the group."

Rubin and Panathinaikos will both be desperate to secure a victory in the slim hope they might be able to steal second place in Group D.
