Champions League Team Of The Round: Matchday Four runs through the best in show from the fourth set of fixtures...
Best Formation: 4-3-3

Nikolay Mihaylov - FC Twente

The son of the 1994 World Cup star Borislav produced a string of world class saves as Twente shocked Werder Bremen in Germany. His one-on-one stops from Hugo Almeida and denials from Claudio Pizarro and Marko Marin were the main factor in his side's win.

Sergio Ramos - Real Madrid

May seem a surprise choice considering the fact Real Madrid conceded twice to Milan, but Ramos was flawless at right back. So much so that he forced Ronaldinho to be substituted prematurely.

Branislav Ivanovic - Chelsea

Is now rightfully regarded as one of Europe's best defenders, but the Serbian was also a protagonist down the other end of the field in Chelsea's 4-1 beating of Spartak Moscow as he scored a surprise double.

Gabriel Heinze - Marseille

Marseille humiliated Zilina 7-0 and Heinze played his part in the rout. As well as keeping a clean sheet, the Argentine soared above his man to head home one of the goals for his side.

Fabio Coentrao - Benfica

An outstanding attacking force from left full back in Benfica's entertaining 4-3 win over Lyon. Scored Benfica’s second with a tremendous volley and then struck their fourth with a superbly executed lob.

Nacer Chadli - FC Twente

The 21-year-old Belgian was lively throughout against Bremen, breaking the deadlock and then creating the second with a delightful backheel. Would have scored and made more but for some wayward finishing.

Claudemir - FC Copenhagen

A real handful for the all-star Barcelona midfield during the 1-1 draw. The Brazilian summer signing grabbed the equaliser with a fine finish, and could have had another as he pushed forward.

Gareth Bale - Tottenham

Keeps his place in Champions League Team of the Round with another devastating performance against Inter. Tore Maicon to shreds down the left wing, and created two of Tottenham's goals in the 3-1 win at White Hart Lane.

Mario Gomez - Bayern Munich

The defending may not have been the best but in hitting a hat-trick in the 4-0 thrashing of CFR Cluj, Gomez continued his improved form and booked Bayern's place in the knockout rounds.

Pippo Inzaghi - Milan

Now 37, age is no barrier to the legend that is Pippo Inzaghi as he came off the bench to fire home a trademark double against Real Madrid and almost steal all three points for Milan until Pedro Leon's last-gasp equaliser. 70 goals now in European competition.

Roberto Soldado - Valencia

The match-winner for Valencia in their 3-0 victory over Rangers with a fine brace. Opened the scoring by showing great reactions on the half turn and slotted home a brilliant second after linking up well with Juan Mata.
