The Stamford Bridge outlet crashed out of the Champion’s League after a 1-0 second leg defeat on this past Tuesday night, and the Portuguese full-back is worried that The Blues veterans will never win the Europe’s top club competition.
“We’ve reached the final one year and very nearly reached it other times. Several players feel it’s a trophy we are missing, Ferreira told the Daily Mail.
“We’ve won leagues and cups, but the Champions League is very important. The years pass by and some players think about whether they have time to achieve it.”
With Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich looking to strengthen the Blues’ squad in the summer transfer window, it looks as though there is a possibility some of the aging veterans will not taste Champion’s League glory.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti was not happy with their elimination from the Champion’s League, but the Italian knows that there is still something to play for.
“We are working to win something this year. The players were disappointed (with the Inter defeat) and it’s the first step to putting new motivation into the next game.”
