Bayern Munich Coach Louis Van Gaal: Fiorentina's Second Goal Was Also Offside

The Dutch tactician says the fortuitous events evened out in the end...
Bayern Munich advanced past the round of 16 in the Champions League after a pulsating tie with Fiorentina, winning on the away goals rule after a 4-4 aggregate scoreline. Coach Louis van Gaal have his opinion on what transpired at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Tuesday night.

"I always like to win and last night although we progressed we were beaten in Florence," he was quoted as saying by itasportpress.it.

"Despite a few errors in defence, we played better than Fiorentina."

Many have attributed the Bavarians entry into the last eight to a late goal that should have been nullified in the first-leg for offside, but the former AZ Alkmaar boss claims that the Viola also got away with one in the second-leg last night.

"Yesterday the Fiorentina officials were blaming the offside goal in Munich by [Miroslav] Klose, but [Fiorentina's] second goal by [Stevan] Jovetic should have been cancelled for the same reason," he concluded.
