Player Ratings: Inter 2-1 Chelsea

Julio Cesar - 5:
Saved comfortably from Lampard, but ultimately is responsible for Inter conceding a crucial away goal as he should have stopped Kalou's curler.

Maicon - 6.5: While he doesn't have the energy of past seasons, this was a solid Maicon performance. Over-ran when clean through after a great one-two with Milito.

Lucio - 9:
Quite possibly the best performance by a defender in the Champions League this season. Was a rock at the back and made countless interceptions and tackles.

Samuel - 7.5: Was also exceptional at centre back. Would have earned a higher mark but was a bit fortunate not to concede a penalty and red card.

Zanetti - 7: Consistent as ever was the Argentine legend. Did not put a foot wrong at left-back and led by example.

Cambiasso - 7.5: Shielded the defence well and scored an absolute rocket of a winner to give Inter a narrow advantage. Loses marks for turning his back on Kalou's shot.

Motta - 6.5: Was not fully fit but had a reasonable game for the hour he was on the pitch, and was involved in Milito's goal.

Stankovic - 6: Showed heart tonight as he clearly was not in peak physical shape. Did his bit for the team, though.

Sneijder - 7: Was quiet for spells, but he was involved in Milito's goal and created the chance for Eto'o on 33 minutes.

Eto'o - 6.5: Was involved in Milito's goal and caused Terry and Carvalho problems with his movement, but missed an absolute sitter at 1-0.

Milito - 8: The most under-rated striker in world football. Terry will be having nightmares about the Argentine. Scored the opener, and put Maicon through on goal too.

Balotelli - 6: Injected some pace, but looked uncomfortable again on the right.

Pandev - N/A

Muntari - N/A

Cech - 6: Slight question marks on Milito's goal, but could do nothing on Cambiasso's strike before he was forced off past the hour with a serious looking injury.

Ivanovic - 7:
Perhaps should have closed Sneijder down better before the Eto'o chance, but helped set up Kalou and made a brilliant goal-saving challenge on Cambiasso.

Terry - 4: A very difficult evening for the Chelsea captain. Was pulled all over the place by the movement of Milito. Lost the Argentine for his goal, and was also to blame on the chance that Eto'o should have buried.

Carvalho - 6:
Also had his difficulties against Eto'o and Milito, but held his own more than Terry.

Malouda - 7: In truth did well in his emergency left-back role. Rarely troubled by Maicon or Balotelli and also looked good going forward.

Mikel - 6: Supposed to be the anchor man, but did not protect the defence at all in the first half. Was good after the break.

Lampard - 6:
Did not make too many of his trademark runs forwards, although he did lose his man to miss a golden chance midway through the second half.

Ballack - 6.5:
Powerful in the opening period and helped win the midfield for a while. Became less prominent as the game wore on.

Kalou - 7: Decisive moments tonight. Scored the Chelsea away goal, and probably should have had a penalty before half-time.

Anelka - 6: Drifted in an out of the game, but created a great opportunity for Lampard on 64 minutes.

Drogba - 7:
Superb in the first half, and had a host of efforts on goal - one of which slammed the cross bar from a free kick. Not too involved after the break as Lucio snuffed him out.

Hilario - 6.5:
Comfortable half-hour.

Sturridge - N/A
