Julio Cesar: 7.5 - Made two key saves at delicate times in each half to ensure Inter made it through to the last 16.

Maicon: 7 - Up and down the right flank all game, and was particularly efficient in the first half where he went close to scoring.

Samuel: N/A - He lasted just 13 minutes before he was stretchered off injured.

Lucio: 7 - The odd risky moment in the early going, but then went on to have a solid game. Won everything in the air.

Zanetti: 7 - Was taken on by Ryazantsev a few too many times in the first half, but going forward the Argentine was phenomenal. His run was key in Eto'o's goal.

Sneijder: 7 - Started slowly, but once he worked his way into the game the Dutchman became a key influence in midfield. Hit the post.

Stankovic: 6 - Worked hard in the first half, but nothing to write home about before injury forced him off.

Thiago Motta: 6.5
- Kept the game ticking in the middle-of-the-park, but question marks still remain over the Brazilian in Europe.

Balotelli: 9 - Answered his critics with a virtuoso performance. Scored a thumping free kick, created Eto's goal, and could have scored on three other occasions. Displayed his frightening potential and even behaved himself for once!

Eto'o: 7.5 - Linked up nicely with Balotelli, and scored the crucial first goal that calmed Inter's nerves. Close to a second in the last minute.

Milito: 6 - A little anonymous tonight, but almost set up a goal for Balotelli with an inviting cross along the six-yard box.


Cordoba: 7 - Did well alongside Lucio after replacing the injured Samuel.

Cambiasso: 6.5 - Helped close out the game in the second half.


Ryzhikov: 7.5 - Performed a string of fine saves to keep the scoreline down; the pick of the bunch from Maicon.

Kaleshin: 6 - Outpaced down his side, but he fought valiantly.

Cesar Navas: 5.5 - Rash, reckless and cynical would be the best way to describe Cesar Navas tonight.

Popov: 5 - Left flat-footed on more than one occasion, and had numerous difficulties against Balotelli.

Salukvadze: 5.5 - The Georgian put in a shift, but Balotelli's turn of pace also caused him problems.

Ryazantsev: 7 - Was a real livewire in the first half where he left Zanetti for dead on a number of occasions. Not so prominent after the break, but certainly one to watch for the future.

Semak: 6.5 - Led by example in the middle-of-the-pitch did the Euro 2008 star, but it wasn't Rubin Kazan's night.

Noboa: 5
- Poor showing from the Ecuador international. Squandered two good openings, and his shooting was not up to scratch.

Murawski: 6 - Wasted a great opening in the first half where he delayed his shot. After the break he just couldn't get enough of the ball.

Karadeniz: 6.5 - Caused the odd problem for the Inter defence with his late runs forward

Dominguez: 6.5 -  The ex-Zenit man displayed some beautiful touches but he didn't have enough support from his team-mates. Denied by Julio Cesar early in the second half.


Kasaev: 5 - Made little impact

Bystrov: N/A - All we learned from him tonight is that his mother used to be a ballet dancer!
