Reigning Swiss titleholders FC Zurich have dropped midfielders Almen Abdi and Andres Vasquez from their first-team squad until further notice.
Zurich released a short statement on their official website, indicating that the club are planning for the future without these two players.
Abdi, a 23-year-old Swiss international, was FCZ's top scorer last season, yet he has started only five Super League games this term.
Swedish midfielder Vasquez, 22, has featured only three times all season.
Zurich are struggling in Group C of the Champions League. They recorded a memorable 1-0 victory over Milan on Matchday 2, but that success is overshadowed by three defeats at a cost of 12 goals.
Additionally, head coach Bernard Challandes' men are struggling to find their best form domestically. Zurich sit eighth in the ten-team table at the moment.
