Lippi: Inter’s Young ‘Champion’ Santon Deserves Azzurri Call-Up

The Azzurri boss has recently expressed his admiration for the young Inter defender Davide Santon.
Marcello Lippi may have a sleepless 48 hours ahead, as he attempts to put together his squad for the all important international friendly against Brazil next week.

With this in mind, the former Juve boss took some time out of his busy schedule today, in order to participate in an interview, where he made mention to several things, including Inter’s young defender Davide Santon.

“I must confess that I did not know Santon prior to when he made his debut a few weeks ago,” Lippi declared in the interview with Sky.

“I saw him play for the first time with Inter against Roma in the Coppa Italia, and I was certainly impressed,” he added.

“In my opinion, this player has all of the potential required to become a champion, meaning that he surely will have the chance to play for the Azzurri one day.

“I was really impressed with his temperament, especially considering the strength of the team, and the incredible amount of quality they possess,” Lippi concluded.

Santon may be back in action for the Nerazzurri this weekend, when they travel to Lecce with the hope of further extending the lead atop of the table.
