Paraguayan attacker Derlis Florentin has died at the age of 26 in a car accident in Paraguay early on Sunday morning. Florentin reportedly lost control of his car on a road close to Cordillera and crashed into another car before slipping off the road.
Florentin was immediately transported to a local hospital after the accident, but the former Palmeiras striker succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
Aside from Florentin, a passenger also died in the car accident, according to a report in GloboEsporte.
Florentin represented Paraguay at under-20 level, but never made it into the nation's senior side. He played at Sportivo Luqueno, Gimnasia de La Plata, Mito Hollyhock, Consadole Sapporo, Barcelona, Palmeiras, Nacional and Danubio during his career.
