Udinese's Alexis Sanchez voted the world's most promising youngster in Fifa poll

The Chilean international was voted the player most likely to excel in the future, beating out a host of young talents across the world in the survey
Udinese and Chile star Alexis Sanchez has been named the best youngster in world football, beating fellow starlets Gareth Bale, Javier Pastore and Ganso in the poll held by world governing body Fifa.

The survey, published on Fifa.com on Friday morning, put the 22-year-old forward far ahead of his peers at the top of the voting. Sanchez was the choice of 35 per cent of respondents who answered the question: "Which player has the most brilliant future in football".

Tottenham's Wales international Bale came in second with 18%, followed by new Real Madrid recruit Nuri Sahin, Pastore, Ganso and Belgian prospect Eden Hazard.

'El Nino Maravilla' is currently training with his national team in preparation for the Copa America next month in Argentina, while back in Europe his club future continues to be discussed. Barcelona have led the race to complete a lucrative transfer, but there is stiff competition from English club Manchester City, who are reportedly preparing their own offer for the player.
