Promising Chilean defender Carlos Labrin has completed a move from Huachipato to Palermo, according to the president of the Serie A club.
La Tercera reports Maurizio Zamparini as assuring the 20-year-old, regarded as one of the most talented young defenders in South America, had agreed terms to move across the Atlantic, although he would only make the switch in June 2011 due to eligibility restrictions. Further details of the transfer have yet to be released.
"We have settled the transfer, but as he is a non EU player he will join us in June," the chief assured on Friday. Zamparini also revealed that the youngster is currently in Sicily carrying out a medical at the club, even though the official line from Huachipato is that the transfer is yet to be confirmed.
Labrin will become the second Chilean in the Palermo squad, with striker Mauricio Pinilla already a part of the team. The centre-back has played at Huachipato since 2008 to great plaudits, and on the international stage was named the most promising player in the 2009 Toulon Tournament, which the Rojita went on to win.
