Rodrigo Riquelme, 22, completed a move to Chilean giants Colo Colo, but it didn't go down too well with other members of the squad who have yet to renew their contracts with the club.
The Paraguayan defender told the press he understands the frustration of his new team-mates, "because they are still competing in a championship, and they aren't sure whether they will stay at the club or not".
"I know it isn't personal, but I understand the situation. But honestly, I want to make sure they know I want to earn myself a place in the team, to demonstrate what I did at Curico," affirmed Riquelme, who scored his team's winning goal as they clinched a berth in the Chilean First Division for the very first time.
If Colo Colo boss Marcelo Barticciotto remains at the club next season he is likely to make several changes to the squad. Leading scorer Lucas Barrios will surely be on his way out.
