Napoli have genuine depth, says Sarri

The Partenopei trainer praised his men's ability to execute his orders in Thursday's Europa League match in Poland despite the rotation of several players
Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri believes the team's performance in Thursday's 2-0 Europa League win at Legia Warsaw proved the depth of his squad.

The Serie A side rotated for the fixture after making the trip without captain Marek Hamsik and on-form forward Lorenzo Insigne, but still secured a routine victory thanks to goals from Dries Mertens and Gonzalo Higuain.

And Sarri stated that their ability to count on every member of their team also puts them in a position to enjoy success this season.

“The team played with determination and really wanted this win. I am happy we won an away fixture and it means we can rely on all of the players," he told reporters after the match.

"I am intrigued by the role of the trequartista, but despite the change of system we are still making certain movements with the wingers that basically let them function as a trequartista.

“I was pleased to see we won and did not change shape or style despite rotating several players."

The Partenopei travel to San Siro on Sunday to face AC Milan, and Sarri is keen for his players to show where their domestic ambitions this season lie.

“Clearly, that is a very important game between two teams who still don’t know what level they can be at this season," he continued.

"It will be important to realise what we can do in the future.”
