Croatian powerhouse Hajduk Split have made the decision to part company with head coach Stanko Poklepovic with immediate effect in the wake of the club's disappointing performances in recent weeks.
"Poklepovic officially is not the Hajduk Split coach any more," a Hajduk Split spokesman was quoted as saying by reporters.
The 72-year-old Poklepovic took the job as Hajduk gaffer in February 2010 when he replaced Edy Reja, who had departed for Lazio. The experienced gaffer guided the Split side to second spot in the league table and to Croatian Cup victory in his first season.
The Europa League hopefuls currently sit second in the Croatian league table, trailing table toppers Dinamo Zagreb by four points.
Hajduk Split have appointed Josko Spanjic as caretaker boss until they've found a permanent replacement.
