Ponte Preta 1-2 South Africa: Surprise Moriri Returns To The Score Sheet For Bafana

Surprise Moriri returned to the Bafana Bafana starting line up and scored in a 2-1 win over Ponte Preta.
Bafana started the game slowly and went behind after 17 minutes, Ponte Preta striker Reis firing home a thunderbolt from inside the box.

But Moriri and Gert Schalkwyk replied for Bafana who have conceded just one goal on tour. After 20 minutes Katlego Mphela crossed for Moriri to knock the ball home.

It has taken Mphela some time to find form. This is Bafana’s seventh game on tour and the PSL’s top scorer hasn’t netted yet. But he did supply a goal at least.

Parreira made four changes to the side at half time, and four more during the course of the second half, and South Africa found a winner three minutes from time.

Richard Henyekane provided the cross this time, and Gert Schalkwyk turned the ball past Preta goalkeeper Gustavo.

Ponte Preto play in the Paulista championship and are currently in 8th position. Santos lead their table, followed by Santo Andre, Sao Paulo and then Corinthians.

Bafana are due to play Desportivo Brasil on Saturday, as their encounter with Paraguay nears.
