Moriri Disappointed After Bafana Injury Blow

Bafana Bafana will be without Surprise Moriri for the Confederations Cup squad...
South Africa's technical team have confirmed Surprise Moriri’s withdrawal from the 30-man provisional FIFA Confederations Cup squad due to a recurring knee injury.

The Mamelodi Sundowns star midfielder suffered a recurrence of the injury in a practice match on Saturday in Germiston and today his withdrawal was confirmed.

As expected, Moriri is devastated, “It is very unfortunate, but on the other hand I understand it is part of the game. It is devastating news for me.

"What can I say? I will miss out, which is something very disappointing, but I wish the guys all the best for the tournament,” says a very disappointed Moriri.

Bafana head coach, Joel Santana, will reduce the squad to 23 players on June 4 and says he won’t be calling a replacement for Moriri as he has enough players in midfield.
