The Brazilian midfielder, currently on loan from Juventus, denied Goksu Turkdogan at the death to secure a 1-0 win for the Turkish champions following the goalkeepers' dismissal

Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo saved a penalty with full-time looming to preserve a 1-0 victory for the Super Lig holders.

Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was sent off in the 88th minute for a foul inside the box, which gifted a penalty to Elazigspor and allowed them the opportunity to equalise following Yekta Kurtulus’ goal five minutes after half-time.

However, Melo - on loan from Juventus - adorned the shot stopper’s gloves and saved Goksu Turkdogan’s spot kick to ensure Galatasaray stay top of the Turkish top-flight standings.

"I looked into Goksu's eyes," the Brazilian told Lig TV after the game. "He looked like he wasn't sure [which way to go] to me.

“I didn't jump too early and waited until the last second to move. I really want to thank the fans. I didn't start the season well but this save is extra motivation for me.”
