Bayern Munich's Mario Gomez out of Germany squad with injury

Bundesliga's top scorer will miss clashes with Austria and Poland following a thigh complaint, with Cacau replacing the former Stuttgart man
Germany and Bayern Munich star Mario Gomez will miss his nation's upcoming fixtures with Austria and Poland with a thigh problem, with Stuttgart's Cacau replacing the 26-year-old.

According to the DFB (German Football Association) Gomez felt the pain in his thigh during the weekend's victory over Kaiserslautern and called Germany boss Joachim Low to say that he would be unable to link up with the national team as they look to seal qualification for Euro 2012 with a victory over neighbours Austria.

Low acted quickly, calling up Cacau, who has also been in good form this season, grabbing a couple of goals in his side's opening fixtures.

The Bayern man had started the new season at a canter, scoring six goals in his seven appearances for the Bavarian side this campaign, including a hat-trick against during the Kaiserlautern clash.
